Some things to watch out for
If you want to transfer your existing balance from your old
credit card to a new one pay particular attention to the annual
percentage rate after the introductory period has ended. Find
out if this is reasonable for you. Try to avoid being in a
situation where you still have a large balance to pay off
with your new credit card after the introductory period has
finished.
Always Read the
small print
Are there any transfer fees the credit card companies charge?
Keep in mind that penalties on 0% or any low rate credit card
can be quite severe.
If you miss or make a late payment what happens to the interest
rate? In some cases you could lose the Low / 0% rate.
Be clear on what your credit
limit is on your new card. If you have a balance from your
old card of say £3,500 but your new card has a credit
limit of £2,000 then the most you can transfer over
would be £2,000.
