How to transfer your balance

Welcome to 0% Balance Transfer Credit Cards

We focus on the best 0% balance transfer deals available in the UK as well as cards that offer low balance transfers for the life of the card.

Why balance transfer?

If you’re in a position where you are struggling to pay off your balance on your existing credit card then transferring your balance to a new credit card that offers an introductory 0% for a set period of months can help you repay your credit without interest being charged to you for that period. In an effort to gain new card members credit card companies now offer 0% balance transfer rates generally for periods of 6months, 9months, 12months, or even in some instances 15months. It is worth adding that your aim should be to significantly reduce or clear all the balance before the 0% interest free period has finished, it would be in your best interest to pay more than the minimum payment that you are charged each month in an attempt to utilise the offer.

Some things to watch out for
If you want to transfer your existing balance from your old credit card to a new one pay particular attention to the annual percentage rate after the introductory period has ended. Find out if this is reasonable for you. Try to avoid being in a situation where you still have a large balance to pay off with your new credit card after the introductory period has finished.

Always Read the small print
Are there any transfer fees the credit card companies charge?
Keep in mind that penalties on 0% or any low rate credit card can be quite severe.
If you miss or make a late payment what happens to the interest rate? In some cases you could lose the Low / 0% rate.

Be clear on what your credit limit is on your new card. If you have a balance from your old card of say £3,500 but your new card has a credit limit of £2,000 then the most you can transfer over would be £2,000.
